Hello all,
Seem to be having trouble with my config. I do all the usual stuff of saving it as a .cfg in my dod cfg folder and put -autoexec in the launch options for dods but nothing happening. Loads up dods on a server and same old default rates etc 
Any ideas/suggestions as to why this might be happening? Only happened since I installed dods on this comp.

name your custom config autoexec.cfg.
or: add 'exec SaintCupidshax.cfg' to the standard config and make that one readonly, up to you

Servers force rates, so that might be part of it, depending on the server you join of course....
Why are you mucking about with rates anyways?

Michel it is called autoexec.cfg so I don't know why it ain't happening.
Blinde_Panik - cos default rates are bad?

open your console and type 'exec autoexec.cfg' and look if that is working

Nevermind I think I got it. I thought I was saving it as a .cfg but it was still a .txt  Solved it by showing file extensions and removing the .txt

Most servers setup by non-numpties don't use default rates, so you'll be forced to use whatever they decide is good, and generally they have something like:
sv_minupdaterate : 40
sv_maxupdaterate : 100
sv_maxrate : 30000
sv_minrate : 20000
sv_mincmdrate : 40
sv_maxcmdrate : 100
sv_maxcmdratedif : 10 (I know this is wrong, but it is something like this)
(All from memory, so may not be completely correct)
Some servers are higher, some lower, so frankly arsing round with your own rates will give virtually no real benefit nowadays.
Can't remember what the ED match config does with fixing rates, though I know it does.
